Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should apologize for her recent temper tantrum in Texas — her slander against our brave Border Patrol agents was utterly unjustified.

Following a recent tour of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) detention facilities, the lawmaker has made several outrageous claims about conditions in the detention centers, blaming the officers for allegedly mistreating illegal immigrants and even accusing them of threatening her during her visit.

“I see why CBP agents were being so physically &sexually threatening towards me,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Officers were keeping women in cells w/ no water & had told them to drink out of the toilets.”

First of all, there is absolutely no evidence to support these absurd allegations — Ocasio-Cortez is deliberately distorting the truth in order to advance her political agenda. In reality, every detained migrant has access to clean drinking water in CBP facilities, and absolutely no one is forced to drink out of toilets.

In fact, according to the CBP agent on scene, one detained migrant voluntarily drank out of the toilet because she didn’t know how to use the faucet. The lawmaker, however, only had one objective — to deliberately exaggerate the details of the incident and baselessly attack the CBP.

Sadly, Ocasio-Cortez’s tantrum didn’t end with her unsubstantiated claim about drinking out of toilets. The representative also tweeted that CBP agents woke migrants up “at odd hours for no reason, calling them wh*res, etc.,” expressed indignation that the agents were allegedly “laughing in front of members Congress,” and criticized their supervisors for stating that CBP agents are “under stress.”

Who was laughing in front of the congressional delegation? What were they laughing about? Is there evidence to prove that migrants were woken up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason? Ocasio-Cortez didn’t offer any details to qualify her allegations.

What we do know, however, is that the congresswoman was acting erratically throughout her visit, with witnesses confirming that she often behaved in a “threatening manner” toward CBP agents. Near the beginning of the tour, according to one witness, Ocasio-Cortez started “crying, screaming, and yelling” at the CBP agents, who stoically maintained their own composure in the face of her outburst.

We also know that in her lengthy series of tweets disparaging the Border Patrol, Ocasio-Cortez made no mention of the fact that CBP officers frequently save illegal immigrants from certain death, rescuing entire families who get stranded along the most dangerous parts of the U.S.-Mexico border and rendering them life-saving aid regardless of their immigration status.

Ocasio-Cortez once said that she would rather be morally correct than factually accurate — but it’s impossible to hold the moral high ground while blatantly deceiving the American people.

There is simply no evidence to support any of the outlandish claims that she made about our Border Patrol agents during her trip to Texas, and she owes a sincere apology to the brave men and women of the CBP who risk their lives to protect this country.
