Amidst Obama Foreign Donor Scandal, Axelrod Accuses Romney of "Buying the Election"

You really just can't make this stuff. Within 24-hours of President Obama's most recent foreign money scandal breaking, Obama campaign chief David Axelrod was sending emails to supporters accusing Mitt Romney of wanting to "buy the election" and asked for a $5 dollar contribution.

Friend --

We're about to get hit with an avalanche of negative ads.

Romney-allied outside groups have already lined up more than $23 million in television spending for this week alone.

That's been the other side's strategy from the beginning: slamming the airwaves with ads trashing the President and his record.

Listen, I'll be blunt: They are trying to buy this election, and we're the only ones who are standing in their way. Don't wait any longer to take ownership of this campaign.

Can you chip in $5 or more right now to help?

We've worked too hard to slow down now. We need to bear down these last 29 days, because Governor Romney and his allies aren't going to play fair or take it easy on us. Take it from their own adviser: "We're not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers."

We need to keep fighting and get the back of the guy who's got ours -- will you chip in today?

Thanks. Let's keep this up.

David

Axelrod's email came in last night, just after Red State's Erick Erickson made a bogus contribution under a fake name to the Obama campaign with no problems at all.

Here now is the screenshot of what Barack Obama’s campaign processed as a donation to the campaign. This would not have happened had the Obama campaign taken basic steps to verify credit card information. But, as always, Team Obama relied on someone else to fix their mess — the bank.

Had basic checks been implemented, this donation would have been rejected. Keep in mind that all the information present except the credit card information is completely made up.

Every bit of that information was made up except the actual credit card information.

What you can’t see is that below the employer information, it asked for my passport number. I gave them a string of zeros.
