Gallup: Worst Approval/Disapproval Numbers Yet for Obama

As President Obama begins his first full post-vacation, post-Irene week on the job, his approval numbers have sagged to record lows.  Only 38 percent of American adults (not even registered or likely voters) give the president a thumbs-up for his job performance, matching a low we witnessed earlier this month.  On the other side of the ledger, Americans' disapproval of this president has spiked to a new high of 55 percent.  Here are Gallup's trend lines:
 


The president will roll out a new jobs plan in (yet another) national address sometime next week.  Plus, we all know what's really driving down Obama's numbers -- he's said so himself, so it must be true.
