Romney on a Roll

Former GOP presidential candidate  Mitt Romney didn't stay on the sidelines after his White House bid was derailed.

His efforts to help the party after his loss are remarkable. The WSJ's Elizabeth Holmes tracked down his political action contributions, his surrogate stops and other ways he has helped the GOP in today's paper.

She found that Romney's PAC, Free and Strong America,has contributed more than $400,000 to 80 different GOP candidates and that Romney barnstormed nine states in the last five days of the election. From last April through last month he stumped at 20 different events for McCain and helped open McCain's Detroit headquarters.

Free and Strong America, also contributed $10,000 to support marriage in California's Proposition 8 ballot initiative and $5,000 to help defeate a Massachusetts measure to allow persons to carry small amounts of marijuana.
