Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) claimed at Wednesday's House Judiciary Committee hearing that he never supported impeaching the president until this whole impeachment inquiry officially began.
"Until this investigation began I did not support impeaching President Trump," he said, rather matter-of-factly.
The Democratic National Committee shared his statement on Twitter.

Well, it took just a quick fact check to prove him wrong. The Trump campaign caught the fib pretty early.

Here's what Johnson said in May:
“This is all part of a coverup. And, uh, it is up to this committee to ensure that we get that report because we have lawful responsibilities, constitutional responsibilities to engage in. One of which, is possibly impeachment. How can we impeach without getting the documents? So we must get this document, the American people expect us to do it. Once we get it, our hearings can continue and lead to whatever they may lead to including impeachment.”
Of course, Johnson is one of several Democrats to call for impeachment just as soon as Trump stepped foot in the Oval Office. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), on the same day she was sworn into Congress, told a group of supporters that she couldn't wait to help "impeach the mother f**ker."
And the Democrats want us to believe they're proceeding on impeachment because they're committed to upholding the Constitution, GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy wondered.
"They always had this pre-written timeline from the day they got sworn in," he sighed last week.
