Huffington Post's Stein Shuts Down Maxine Waters On Russian Collusion

Well, this is quite the exchange. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, where The Huffington Post’s Sam Stein pressed the rabid anti-Trump Democrat about how she defines collusion since Waters has served up zero evidence to back up most of her claims. One of the most bizarre was her reckless peddling of conspiracy theories, like Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) having ties to Russia. Stein noted that collusion, in this scenario, would be Russian actors acting in a way to elect Donald Trump. There is no evidence to prove this claim. Stein was wondering what Waters thinks collusion is since that’s the standard for her calls to impeach the president.

"I am talking about strategies that were developed working with the Trump campaign. I really do believe that much of what you saw coming out of Trump’s mouth was a play from Putin’s playbook,” she said. She added that slogans and monikers (i.e. “crooked Hillary” and “lock her up”) were developed strategically with members of the Kremlin and maybe even Vladimir Putin himself.

Stein asked Waters somewhat incredulously if she felt that the Kremlin was involved in developing strategy to sink Hillary Clinton.

“Just to be clear, we haven’t—there’s been no actual evidence yet of collusion,” said Stein.

“No, it has not been,” replied Waters.

“And I want you to know, every time I've talked about impeachment, I’ve said we've got to connect the dots, we’ve got to get the facts, we’ve got to do the investigation. That is what leads to impeachment and I also said that Trump will lead us right there," she added.

First, the face on Stein and co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough are priceless after this screed. Who invited this crazy person onto the show? Second, you cannot connect the dots when there’s no evidence, which is also a solid fact of these investigations. There is no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians during the 2016 election. As such, there’s absolutely zero evidence to show that Putin helped the Trump campaign develop talking points. These are the ramblings of a crazy person; a drug-induced haze that is caused by Trump Derangement Syndrome. The sheer insanity of this whole exchange is truly stunning. Saying you need to connect the dots and get the facts, but Trump is totally guilty and must be impeached, despite the lack of evidence. You really can’t read this as anything else but an attempt to nullify the 2016 election by removing Donald Trump from the White House. That’s repugnant. Hillary Clinton lost because she was a sucky candidate, with no message—who also told half the country that they were deplorable for supporting her opponent, among other things. I think we can all agree that Trump was a lot better than Clinton, but also very flawed—and he beat her. The man from "The Apprentice" beat her. It just shows how Clinton was and remains to be a terrible campaigner.

Raging Waters also said at the Ideas Conference hosted by the left wing Center for American Progress this week that she decided long ago that Trump should be impeached. Yet, top House Democrats seem to not be so gung-ho about impeaching Trump for the moment.
