Texas Rep. Ted Poe (R), who sits on the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees, informed constituents on Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with leukemia.
"I am fortunate enough to be treated by the finest physicians in the world right here in Houston at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center," Poe said in a statement. "It is my intention to beat cancer and have a full recovery and continue to represent the people of Texas.”
A number of his colleagues offered their support, including House Speaker Paul Ryan.

"The Good Lord will fix this, I believe,” Poe said. “And that's just the way it is.”
