The President's Dubious Universe of Awareness

It's the famous Washington question: What did the President know, and when did he know it?

Well, if you ask the Obama administration, the answer -- to an alarming degree -- is "nothing" and "never." That is, about anything that matters. It's profoundly unsettling to compare the issues of which the President is reportedly unaware with the matters in which, it's clear, he demonstrates a high degree of both awareness and interest. Consider the following:

The President was unaware the NSA was spying on world leaders.

He was unaware of the problems with the ObamaCare web site.

He was unaware that ICE was releasing illegal immigrants before the sequester.

He was unaware that the IRS was targeting his political opponents.

He was unaware that anyone had been blocked from testifying about Benghazi.

He was unaware that officials in Libya had requested more security before the attacks.

He was unaware that his DOJ was snooping on reporters.

He was unaware of gun-running scheme Fast & Furious.

He was unaware that his administration was offering a politician a job to avoid a divisive Democrat primary.

He was unaware that "Tea Baggers" is a profoundly crude and derogatory term (let's hope).

He was unaware that his aunt was defying a deportation order.

He was unaware that his uncle, an illegal immigrant, was arrested for DUI.

He was unaware that Rod Blagojevich was trying to sell his former Senate seat.

He was unaware that his longtime friend and big-time donor was a slumlord.

Equally revealing, of course, are the things the President is aware of:

He's aware of golf.

He's aware of Star Trek.

He's aware of college basketball. In detail.

He's aware of the Dolphins 2012 record.

He's aware of who Jay-Z and Beyonce and Blue Ivy are.

He's aware of Jay-Z's song "Open Letter"(but was unaware that his friends Jay-Z & Beyonce traveled to Cuba).

He's aware that Kanye West is a "jackass" -- and cares enough to comment twice.

He's aware of Snooki -- despite denying it.

He's aware of the Nicki Minaj-Mariah Carey feud. And comments.

Finally, he's a font of advice:

On parenting.

And relationships.

And who should play him in the movie about his life. (seriously!).
