A U.N. spokesman says a vehicle belonging to a team investigating the Syrian regime's alleged use of chemical weapons has been "deliberately shot at multiple times" by unidentified snipers in Damascus.Meanwhile, reportedly the U.S. military is getting ready to launch a bunch of cruise missiles into the country. Iran, Russia and Syrian President Assad are warning against U.S. intervention, warning there will be consequences for such actions.
Martin Nesirky, who is spokesman for U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, says the Monday shooting occurred in the buffer zone area between rebel- and government-controlled territory.
He says the team will return to the area after replacing the vehicle.
A war of words erupted on Sunday over Syria as Washington said it was ready to take action over chemical weapons attacks and Tehran warned US intervention would carry "harsh consequences".A short and oversimplified version of what's going on in Syria looks like this:
-The rebels fighting the government have been taken over by al Qaeda and other terror groups
-The government backing Assad has been getting help from Iranian terror groups like Hamas and Hezabollah
-Syrian civilians who are neither rebels nor on the side of the government are being slaughter: 100,000 people since 2011.
At this point it looks like President Obama is planning to go ahead with military action against Syria without UN or Congressional approval after the Brits go in first. Buckle your seat belts folks.
