Juan Williams Defends Napolitano’s Record, Claims We’ve Had No Attacks Under Her Tenure

During a discussion of Janet Napolitano’s resignation Friday on Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier, Juan Williams defended her record saying that “under her tenure we’ve had no attacks, we’ve been safe as Americans.”

Bret Baier interrupted, reminding him of Fort Hood, when Major Nidal Hasan gunned down 13 Americans and wounded more than 32 others while yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’ (it was initially labeled ‘terrorism’ before the government changed it to ‘workplace violence’)—but Williams continued:

"We've had no attacks--I mean she has managed this, to me, very well,” Williams said. “They're now looking at people like Bill Bratton, the former Police Chief in New York, Ray Kelly the current police Chief in New York, people like that.”

“And the idea would try to be to downplay some of the tensions between FBI, Justice and Homeland Security,” he said.  “But you have to say if you look back on her record, I think she did a pretty good job.”

What about the recent Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three people and wounded more than 250? Or how about the Christmas Day bomber who failed in his attempt to detonate the explosive he carried aboard the plane and was only stopped by alert passengers on the plane?

Where has Williams been since 2009 when the outgoing DHS secretary took office? Charles Krauthammer had a right when he said, “Her record was the underwear didn't explode.”
