President Obama to Appear on Meet the Press Tomorrow

President Obama is set to appear for an interview on tomorrow’s Meet the Press with David Gregory. The interview will be taped at the White House today.

This interview comes just days before the looming fiscal cliff deadline and is President Obama’s first appearance on the show since September 2009 during the health care debate.

An NBC News spokesperson had said earlier this week that David Gregory was on vacation and would not be hosting this week’s show. David Gregory has been under investigation after he showed an empty gun magazine clip on air while interviewing the president of the National Rifle Association last Sunday. Officials at the Washington Metropolitan Police Department have called the action illegal. He and the NBC team have yet to comment on this investigation.

This interview is perhaps President Obama looking for another stage to reach the American people and convince us that Republicans are at fault for this fiscal cliff debacle. President Obama often does these kinds of appearances when he wants to bypass his co-workers and go straight to the American people. The problem is, that Congress’ purpose is to represent the people and the President’s job is to work with them to get this problem solved. Someone needs to tell the president that the campaign is over and he needs to work with his colleagues on both the left and right side of the aisle to make sure we don’t dive head first over the fiscal cliff.
