Oh, Has Pelosi Hopped Off The Impeach Trump Train?...Hardly

When Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) took over then-Rep. John Conyers’ (D-MI) spot on the House Judiciary Committee last year, Conyers resigned after allegations of sexual harassment were lobbed against him, it was seen by many as House Democrats preparing for an impeachment fight. That still very well could be the case, but Nancy Pelosi, who looks to reclaim the House speakership, seems to be backing off from this far left action item. She recently said that you just couldn’t impeach someone over political reasons. Who is this woman and what has she done with Nancy Pelosi? Because it was not that long ago that impeaching the president was a teaser she was offering to the progressive Left should Democrats retake the House:

CNN’s Chris Cuomo asked Pelosi what she would tell people demanding that House Democrats need to impeach Trump.

“First of all, what is the motivation? I don’t think we should impeach a president for political reasons. But I don’t think we should not impeach him because we think it’s politically impeding for us to do so,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi added the Democrats have to see what the “facts are” before they discuss impeachment.

And while she has no formal voting power, Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton of Washington, D.C. said that impeachment would be a total waste of time:

CNN’s Brianna Keilar asked Norton if she thought House Democrats should file articles of impeachment against Trump.

“The first thing I ask myself when I file a bill is can I get it through the Senate, or am I simply making a point for my constituents. Why would we go down the impeachment road when we cannot get it through the Senate?” Norton asked.

Norton added that impeachment would be a “useless waste of energy,” and said that Special Counsel Robert Mueller should complete his investigation before there is talk about impeachment.

But the catch is Mueller. It’s always been about Mueller and what he finds. So far, he’s found zero evidence to corroborate the shoddy and increasingly comical accusation that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians during the 2016 election. Right now, only 21 percent of new House Democrats want to go full throttle on the impeachment train. They’re just waiting. Like crocodiles shadowing a herd of antelope as they attempt to cross a river, Democrats are waiting for the right moment. And dare I say fact-based or not; we all saw how they fanned the flames of the Russian collusion conspiracy theory without evidence. No one wants to see impeachment in the first few weeks of the new Congress or right after the election. But rest assured, they will push for this; they have to. The resistance wing of the Democratic Party, which can make life hell for them, won’t allow them to put this on the backburner. In fact, it’s safe to say many Democrats voted in 2018 in the hopes that their party would push for this on the Hill. Never trust these people. Period. Thank God the GOP was able to hold onto the Senate.

Now, it seems the Democrats have moved on from Justice Kavanaugh (for now), who they vowed to investigate and impeach leading up to the midterms.
