Hugh Hewitt immediately noticed this bizarre remark delivered today at an event called "Laborfest" in Milwaukee, WI:
Mr. Obama also used Monday’s appearance here to deliver a hearty defense of his policies and take a few whacks at Republicans. “They talk about me like a dog,” the president said. “That’s not in my prepared remarks, but it’s true.” And Mr. Obama repeatedly referred to the House Republican leader, Representative John Boehner, as “the man who wants to be speaker.”Off-prompter and off message. As Hugh points out, this sort of self pity is a bit unseemly and certainly not presidential. Even in the wake of the Left's most vicious anti-Bush jeremiads, I can't recall our 43rd president publicly whinging about how Democrats in Congress, unnamed lefty "special interests," or anyone else talked about him--even when they said things like this:
Or this. Or this, just to cite a few.
It's also not clear what precisely the president meant by this comment, or if he has a specific example in mind. Please expand, Mr. President.
