Herman Cain Would Allow Abortions in Rape, Incest Cases

Herman Cain said Wednesday both that abortion should be allowed “under no circumstances,” but later said that in cases of rape and incest, it’s “a choice that that family or that mother has to make.”

During an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, Mr. Cain first said, “I believe that life begins at conception. And abortion – under no circumstances.” But later he amended that when asked if he would make an exception for a family member who became pregnant through rape or incest.

“It’s not the government’s role, or anybody else’s role, to make that decision,” he said, adding: “It ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make, not me as president, not some politician, not a bureaucrat. It gets down to that family, and whatever they decide, they decide.”
