Boehner: Veto Threat on Cut, Cap Act 'Unfortunate'

The House's top two Republicans responded in dismay to President Barack Obama's threat to veto the Cut, Cap and Balance Act that would raise the nation's debt limit but with strict conditions attached.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) called the administration's announcement "disappointing" and accused the White House of not being "serious" on choosing where to cut government spending.

"This unfortunate veto threat should make clear that the issue is not congressional inaction, but rather the President's unwillingness to cut spending and restrain the future growth of our government," Boehner said in a statement.
