Republican Chris Dudley and Democrat John Kitzhaber rallied their troops Saturday to continue pressing Oregonians to vote in a race for governor that both sides acknowledge could be very close. With just three days left before Tuesday's election deadline, Dudley joined New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour for a boisterous early morning rally with more than 400 Republican activists at Parkrose High School on the outer eastside of Portland.

Christie, who ousted Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine last year, has become a rising Republican star around the country for his tough talk about cutting budgets, curbing public employee pay and holding the line on taxes.

"I want to give you a preview of what's in store for you," said Christie to the cheers of the GOP activists who clearly relished the thought of Dudley doing battle with the Democratic leadership of the Oregon Legislature.
