The Obama administration needs a clear policy for detaining and trying suspected terrorists, Sens. Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., and Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., write in a Washington Post op-ed on Friday.

“With our nation at war against violent extremists, our military should not be pressured to detain and interrogate dangerous terrorists on an ad hoc basis or even to release them,” they say.

Lieberman and Ayotte are joining the ranks of a number of lawmakers vocally questioning the administration’s policy for terrorism trials; their concerns were sparked by the administration's decision to try a suspected Somali terrorist in a civilian court in New York City.
