The End of the Beginning

Justice has finally found Osama bin Laden.  Good riddance.

Praise is due to the President for having continued to prosecute the war on terror -- although he refuses to call it that -- and for having learned, after coming to office, of the necessity of continuing the Bush administration policies that he derided as a candidate.

But along with the flowery self-congratulation in a speech that elevated Osama bin Laden above the level of notice he was due, perhaps the President should have pointed out that this milestone -- while welcome and long-overdue -- doesn't mark anything remotely approaching the end of our fight against terrorism.

Rather, it's simply another reminder to our friends and foes alike that aggression against the US will not stand -- and we will hunt down those who kill our innocents, and we will bring justice to them, no matter how long it takes.
