Hastert Steps Down. Bring On the Pence. (Update: Pence Declares)

I'm gonna have to get me a go-to Photoshop of Pence with angel's wings or a halo or a dove descending upon his head. You know, just because I'm neutral and dispassionate about him. Maybe Allah will hook me up if I ask real nice in a couple weeks after we're all in a better mood.

In the meantime, this will have to do.

Hastert will not seek reelection to leadership. Boehner will, so it will be George Hamilton vs. George Clooney. I'll take Clooney, thank you. (All right, I'm being generous in my comparison, but this is Hollywood for ugly people. What do you want?)

Update: I should specify that I really will entertain other candidates for the position and give them all fair coverage, but I'm obviously partial to Pence, and have been for a while. I'm just having some fun with it since everyone in the office picks on me for having a crush on him. I can't help it. Fiscal responsibility is just so sexy.

Update: Someone's with me on this one.

This will be an interesting fight. Blogs are going to stake out candidates and have quite a hand in the race, just like when Boehner won the Majority Leader slot.

Update: Boo yah!
