One of Barack Obama’s Middle East policy advisers disclosed yesterday that he had held meetings with the militant Palestinian group Hamas – prompting the likely Democratic nominee to sever all links with him. Robert Malley told The Times that he had been in regular contact with Hamas, which controls Gaza and is listed by the US State Department as a terrorist organisation.This comes after senior Hamas leader, Ahmed Yousef, told media "We like Mr. Obama and we hope he will win the election."
Update:The RNC sent reporters a research briefing this morning titled "The Hamas Standard" asking Obama to cut his ties with Jimmy Carter as well. It also notes Obama stated in a previous debate he would be willing to meet with enemies of the United States.
From doing a segment on Cavuto a few weeks ago comparing Obama to Carter I remember Obama's presidential website states Obama would "talk to our foes and friends" as president, specifically mentioning Iran and North Korea.
