Costello's proof that Americans aren't making up their own minds: "There's just this perception out there that Americans will listen to any one person and do exactly as they say." [emphasis in italics is mine]. I did not know Costello went to the Katie Couric school of journalism (aka the "Some people say..." or the "It has been suggested by some that..." school of journalism).
