Just A Matter of Context, Don't You Know?

Anyone who objected to Reverent Jeremiah Wright's remarks, take heed: The whole matter isn't as straightforward as it seems.  Rather, a more "complex" message emerges -- if, that is, one looks at Wright's preaching "in context."

That, at least, is what the linked news article in the LA Times would have us believe.  Give it a read and decide for yourself.

What's entertaining about efforts like this is that they attempt to convince people that what they saw or heard doesn't really mean what it looked or sounded like.  Don't you find efforts like this to be profoundly condescending?  Call me a simpleton, but I prefer to offer Reverend Wright the compliment of believing that he's an intelligent (albeit angry and anti-American) man who said what he meant, and meant what he said -- without equivocation or other excuses.
