Obama's Take On Jobs

I found Obama's remarks this morning on the state of the economy particularly ridiculous, in light of George Will's recent analysis that "private-sector job creation almost stopped in May." In contrast to that assessment, Obama said this:
The fact is that small businesses all across the country are hiring people, making a difference in their communities, and giving back to their communities....we've been adding jobs for five months in a row.
Obama is pushing legislation that would eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses, provide tax relief for start ups, and help overrwrite loans to small businesses, among other objectives. He assures us that all of these initiatives are fully paid for -- but, if things were as rosy as he claimed, why would they even be necessary in the first place?
