You Gotta Have Faith? Or Not?

In a move no doubt intended to signal his friendliness to people of faith (!), Barack Obama announced, according to this AP story:

plans to expand President Bush's program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and -- in a move sure to cause controversy -- support some ability to hire and fire based on faith.

But wait a minute.  If this First Read account is accurate (and there's every reason to believe it is), Barack is flipping yet again

The original version of the AP story said Barack would "support their [i.e. the religious groups'] ability to hire and fire based on faith."  The Obama campaign said that characterization was inaccurate, so AP changed "their" to "some" ability . . .

But the campaign is still saying that the statement is inaccurate.

So which is it?  Does Barack support religious groups having the ability/some ability/any ability to hire and fire based on faith -- as the AP has reported -- or not?

Perhaps he simultaneously supports and opposes it, a la his position(s) on gay marriage and the DC gun ban?  Wow!  The options are endless!

It seems increasingly apparent that he's the candidate of "change" all right -- changing views, that is.
