So Much for "Bipartisanship"
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is rewriting a jobs bill after Democrats complained of too many concessions to Republicans.
I wasn't a fan of the bill even as it was -- little more than an extension of unemployment benefits dressed up as a "jobs" bill -- but it had attracted Republican support, most notably that of Chuck Grassley. It probably would have pulled other moderates on board, too.
But the President can't complain too loudly about Republican "obstructionism" if the simple fact that a bill reflects some Republican priorities becomes a reason for Democrats to oppose it.
