If you're interested in understanding the Palmetto State, today's Washington Post has a pretty cool interactive map that shows where each candidates' base is.   For example, Romney is strong in fast-growing area of Rock Hill (a Charlotte suburb) -- Huckabee wins if there's a huge turn-out in the socially-conservative "Upstate" area (which includes Greenville/Spartanburg) -- and McCain needs big turn-out from veterans in the Charleston area ...

Meanwhile, the swing area of The Midlands (the area around Columbia) is the real battle-ground area.  If one person does really well here, he will most likely be the victor ...
