The Death Of What Republican Party?

As of this year, 40 percent of Americans say they're conservative, compared to 21 percent who say they're liberal. Thirty-five percent are moderate, according to Gallup.

Gallup also measured party identification, and found that while 97 percent of Republicans identified themselves as either conservative or moderate, 78 percent of Democrats identified themselves as either liberal or moderate. So, 22 percent of Democrats actually consider themselves conservative, but only 3 percent of Republicans say they're liberal. That means there's a lot of room to grow in terms of regaining numbers from the D's in upcoming elections.
