Mac Given the Border Question

"If your original proposal came to a vote on the Senate floor, would you vote for it?"

McCain: "It won't. It won't."

"But, would you vote for it?"

McCain: "No...We know now that people want the border secured first, so that won't be coming to the floor."
He did say "no" briefly, but the quick follow-up with "it won't be voted on" suggests he wasn't admitting he'd vote against it. When Vandehei followed up, he wouldn't say he'd actually vote against it.

He also hits enforcement by attrition.
"That (border security) was in the proposal. The American people did not trust that we would do that."
Would have been much better if he'd just said he'd vote against it, but he's too proud for that business.
