Happy Father's Day

It's my first Father's Day since the death of my dad, who was not only a good man and a wonderful man, but also an extraordinary physician.  The blessing of having had wonderful parents is that the legacy of their advice and caring lives on forever in the hearts of the children who loved them.

Two books my father always commended to us were "The Oxbow Incident" and "The Caine Mutiny."  Both center on the importance of thinking for oneself and doing what's right, rather than going with the crowd or doing what seems "justified" and expedient in the heat of the moment.

I was blessed by his guidance, and by his example.
