Obama FINALLY Schedules a Meeting w/ BP

Nearly two months after the Deepwater Horizon accident began sending barrel after barrel of oil spewing out into the Gulf of Mexico, President Obama is planning to meet with the chairman of BP.  Obama is apparently bypassing BP's CEO--whom he also hasn't spoken with since the oil leak started--and going directly to the chairman of the board for a meeting to take place next Wednesday.

Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen stated that the BP spill has had a "profound impact" on Americans living in the region in a letter to BP chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg.  Allen added that President Obama wanted to set up a meeting, and that "time is of the essence" in ending the crisis.  Clearly--come quick before my poll numbers dip any lower!

The White House announced the meeting today as President Obama and press secretary Robert Gibbs have been getting hammered with questions about why the president had not yet bothered to speak with BP.
