Congressman Advocates for Temporary Suspension of Law Enforcement

Rep. William Clay (D-Mo.) chairs the House Subcommittee on Information Policy, Census and National Archives, and wants the Obama administration to suspend immigrant raids over the next year so the Census can be accurately counted. Immigrants often try and evade Census workers, thinking that they're law enforcement, so Clay simply wants the raids to end in order to get a better head count. In other words, maintaining the integrity of federal law isn't as important as accurately counting those who spit on it.

This isn't the first time such a measure has been suggested - similar moves were made in 2001.
“It think it should be repeated to tamp down on any fears the immigrant population might have on certain raids, whether they are here legally or not,” said Clay, at a Census Bureau conference. “They don’t want that hanging over them.”
Clay said the government should work with groups such as the AFL-CIO, Coca-Cola, NAACP to get the word out that illegals should not fear retribution from Census workers. I bet he's only steps away from advocating that the government also work with Acorn and Mexican drug runners.
