Brownback Plays Hooky

The Politico's Carrie Sheffield writes:

Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., has been playing an awful lot of hooky these days. Last month, he missed more than half of his Senate roll call votes, according to AbsentCongress.org, a Web site launched Thursday that tracks senatorial absenteeism.

Only Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S.D., who remains hospitalized after a life-threatening brain hemorrhage, has missed more. Johnson, who staffers say is making steady progress in his recovery, hasn't made it to any votes yet.

According to the report, Brownback has only showed up 48 percent of the time.  So let me get this straight: John McCain, Barack Clinton and Hillary Obama -- all frontrunners with real organizations in places like Iowa and New Hampshire -- have found the time to cast more votes than longshot Brownback?

If you only showed up to work half the time, would you get a promotion?  That's the question that voters will be asking if this continues.
