Kennedy Friend Remembers: "One of His Favorite Topics of Humor Was Indeed Chappaquiddick Itself"

In an interview with the Diane Rehm Show, one of Kennedy's close friends in life--former editor of Newsweek and New York Times Magazine Ed Klein--added to the widespread spin on Kennedy's apparent super-human legacy and reminisced about Kennedy's apparently very sick sense of humor:

I don’t know if you know this or not, but one of his favorite topics of humor was indeed Chappaquiddick itself. And he would ask people, “have you heard any new jokes about Chappaquiddick?” That is just the most amazing thing. It’s not that he didn’t feel remorse about the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, but that he still always saw the other side of everything and the ridiculous side of things, too.

As the funeral procession begins today, let's take a lesson from Teddy himself and allow ourselves to see "the other side of everything and the ridiculous side of things"--including our various memories of the late Senator Ted Kennedy.
