Hear That, Democrats? Voters Want Secure Borders Before Amnesty Talk

Rasmussen Reports released poll results today showing that a majority (65%) of American voters say legislation that deals with securing the borders is more important than legislation that would help legalize "undocumented workers" already in the country.

And, as that 65% would indicate, it's not just a conservative stance -- it's a winning issue with independent voters as well.

"Seventy-nine percent (79%) of Republicans and 67% of voters not affiliated with either major political party say securing the border is the more important element of any such legislation. So do 50% of Democrats, but 43% of those in the president’s party take the opposite view," the report says (emphasis added).

Even more interesting is that 70% of the "mainstream" voters -- as opposed to those in the "political class" -- emphasize securing the border
