Issues on the border including violence, human smuggling and drug trafficking, are taking their toll on Border Patrol Officers. According to MyFox New York and the Associated Press, the suicide rate among Border Patrol Agents is at its highest level in 20 years with 15 agents taking their own lives since February 2008. Suicide prevention programs have been quietly put into place to try and stop the increase.
