“The very fact that this race is even close is a sign of how unhappy Americans are with Democratic rule in Washington."

That's a quote from Newt Gingrich, as he gave his two cents on the broiling Massachusetts Senate race. Gingrich said that health reform, especially, was drawing voters away from the Democratic Party in the state; feelings are even more heightened on health care given the late Sen. Kennedy's use of that very Massachusetts' Senate seat to promote his radical health care agenda.

Democrat Coakley is probably shooting herself in the foot by invoking Kennedy's memory in her now-angry campaign. If voters are especially incensed over health care, relying on the legacy of a leading health care reformer is probably not the wisest move.
