"First, they ignore you. Then, they ridicule you. Then, they attack you. And then you win."

That was Americans for Prosperity president Tim Phillips, speaking to a standing-room-only session at his Defending the Dream summit, happening today. He was quoting Mahatma Ghandi, and referring to the tea party movement that's invading Washington, D.C. this weekend like the Duke of Wellington at Waterloo.
Maybe its just a coincidence, but President Obama heard that you guys were coming to Washington today, and he heard that a few hundred thousand of his closest friends were coming to see a guy named Glenn Beck tomorrow. And again, I'm sure its a coincidence, but the President decided to take another vacation. Congratulations, you're already making a difference!
There are almost 2500 attendees at the sold-out event, which is a tiny fraction of the 300,000 which are expected at Glenn Beck's rally tomorrow.  Today's activities centered around activism and education, with Phillips starting off a lineup of speakers that included Dick Morris, Herman Cain, Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.), and columnist George Will.

Of course, there was a big push for the November mid-term elections. Here's Phillips again:
For two years, we've seen this Congress.... pursue a radical, big-government, bureaucrats-know-best agenda. They passed jobs killing, freedom killing legislation. They've had their say. They've ignored us, and ignored you. Well... in about 65 days the American people get their say, don't they?
