Chavez also floats an interesting choice for Steele's replacement: Former Missouri senator Jim Talent. He's a very bright, ethical guy, with plenty of policy smarts -- and as someone who's come from a bellwether state, he understands how to reach out to Republicans, independents and Democrats alike.
