SPECTER GOES DOWN

As it turns out, you can't be a power-hungry, self-absorbed, principle-less opportunist and stay in power. Well, maybe I'm going too far. You can be all of those things, but you can't be them as blatantly and grossly as Arlen Specter is. The AP has called it.
Voters today picked U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak as the party's nominee and rejected the 80-year-old Specter in his first Democratic campaign.

The vote also was a defeat for President Barack Obama, who supported Specter when he abandoned the Republican Party last year.
The only tinge of disappointment is that Republicans didn't get to take him down in the general. But let's face it — he never, ever deserved to win the primary.
