Jay Carney: We Knew About Petraeus Affair Day After the Election

During the White House press briefing today, press secretary Jay Carney said that the White House found out about the Petraues affair the day after the election, despite that the investigation into the situation had been going on for months. The FBI knew about it, Attorney General Eric Holder knew about it and the affair was known as an "open secret." Carney refused to answer questions relating to why President Obama didn't know about the situation.

"I would refer you to the FBI and the Department of Justice," Carney said.

When pressed for further details about Benghazi and the Petraeus affair, Carney pivoted to the economy, saying the fiscal cliff is Obama's priority at the moment.
