One In Three African Americans Support The Tea Party

PJTV conducted the poll, which asked respondents how strongly they supported the tea party movement, if at all. It also noted the respondent's race.
Our survey found that more than one in three African-Americans support the movement. Moreover, the data revealed that 32 percent are also likely to vote for a congressional candidate whom the tea party supports.
The number of self-identified tea partiers themselves are about thirty-three percent overall, regardless of race — so this poll essentially confirms that African Americans support the movement at the same rate that other segments of the population do. That takes the claims of tea party racism down a few notches.
