President-elect Donald Trump has been busy announcing his Cabinet picks. So far, we've seen a transition that has earned the praise of his former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, who said “the level of sophistication on the issues is so far beyond what it was in 2017.”
“This is not going to look anything like it did in 2017,” Mulvaney added, referring to some of the position announcements. “This is going to be Trump 1.0 on steroids.”
But beyond the top-level jobs, there are thousands of political appointee positions ready to be filled in the second Trump administration—and RFK Jr. has a plan.
The former independent presidential candidate launched a website to crowdsource names to fill the roles known as “Nominees for the People.”
"President Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. want your help nominating people of integrity and courage for over 4,000 appointments across the future Trump Administration," the site's welcome page initially said.
"Cast your vote on nominees for the Trump team," it added. "Make America Healthy Again isn’t just about encouraging Americans to eat clean, organic food, exercising, or educating them about how to avoid toxins in our food, water, air, and soil — it’s about the people taking back control of our government, our country, and our health."
As of Wednesday morning, the page thanked those who contributed names and said submissions are now closed due to the “influx of nominees” received.
In addition to the nation’s health, categories included peace abroad, government efficiency, technology, energy and infrastructure, the economy, environmental and natural resources, peace at home, food and agriculture, housing, education, and labor.
Whether the Trump transition team takes the public's input seriously remains to be seen, but some of the top picks are well known and popular figures, such as Mike Rowe for Labor.
