NY State Dem Whose Child Was Forced Into Remote Learning Has a Message for Biden About Border

The illegal immigration crisis came to a head this week when students at Brooklyn’s James Madison High School were kicked out of their own classrooms to make way for nearly 2,000 migrants who had to be temporarily relocated during the storm that hit New York.

Parents were irate that as taxpayers, their children were forced into a remote learning situation so that JMHS could be turned into an “overnight respite center" because the tent facility set up for them at a nearby abandoned federal airfield may have been structurally unsafe during high winds.

Among those angry residents and parents is New York Assemblywoman Jaime Williams, a Democrat, who joined the chorus of those calling out the Biden administration to deal with the problem immediately.

"Definitely concerning as a parent, as a representative for the area, very disruptive to our students," Williams said. "It's not fair to our parents. I was also there this morning and the community is just outraged, because here you have the migrants being placed over our own children and our community. What's next?"

"Why wait till tomorrow? Our districts are benefactors of lawlessness. We can't wait until tomorrow," Williams said, adding that the problem must be addressed where it starts—at the border.

"There's no tools to find. There's no new words to invent. It's plain English. Close the borders and let's deal with the situation instead of putting the American citizens in a predicament where you have other people over them. It's unfair to each and every taxpaying American, not only in my district but in this country," she continued.  "It is not fair to us."
