Border Patrol Intercepts Thousands of Counterfeit Masks

Border Patrol agents in Cincinnati, Ohio intercepted thousands of counterfeit 3M masks that were part of a package from China. They were en route to a residence in Texas.

The person who shipped the package declared the value of its contents to be around $500. After officers inspected the package, they discovered 2,000 of the counterfeit masks, which is "an Intellectual Property Rights violation."

"Due to the quantity of masks, the domestic value was listed as $2,000. If the masks were real, the MSRP would have been $7,000," the agency said in a statement. "If the masks were real, the MSRP would have been $7,000."

“Cincinnati CBP screens freight from all over the world,” said Richard Gillespie, Cincinnati Port Director. “Our officers are highly trained and work around the clock to protect the people of the United States.” CBP officers seized the package for trademark violation.
