WATCH: CNN's Attempt to Save Face Over Cuomo Failing to Take His Coronavirus Diagnosis Seriously

It's no secret that members of the mainstream media are elitists. They hold themselves to a different standard than the rest of us. They're really great at telling average, everyday Americans what we can and cannot do, but they believe they're exempt from the rules.

CNN's Chris Cuomo announced on March 31st that he was positive with the Wuhan coronavirus. He set up shop in his downstairs basement – and even hosted his show there – as a means of isolating himself from his wife and kids... or at least that's what he told America.

Fast forward roughly two weeks later and Cuomo's wife, Cristina, turned up positive for the virus as well.

On Monday, his show featured a clip of him coming up from the basement for the first time, something the CNN host said he longed for all along.

"Alright. Here is the official reentrance from the base," he said, walking up the basement stairs. "Cleared by the CDC. ... This is what I've been dreaming of, literally for weeks."

Cuomo said Cristina had also been cleared by the Center for Disease Control.

This sounds all fine and dandy, but Cuomo didn't follow the recommendations from the CDC. He didn't self-isolate. He just appeared to self-isolate.

In fact, on April 14th, the CNN host had a confrontation with a bicyclist in the East Hamptons. Cuomo was visiting a property that was under construction. The bystander (rightfully) chided Cuomo for being around others despite being positively diagnosed with the Wuhan coronavirus. And it's not like he could even deny it. He admitted it when he went on a tirade about the incident on his radio show.

From the New York Post:

Cuomo then launched into a tale about a “loser biker” who confronted him on Easter Sunday for being outside his property with his family despite his coronavirus diagnosis.

“I don’t want some jackass, loser, fat tire biker being able to pull over and get in my space and talk bulls–t to me, I don’t want to hear it,” he said.

Cuomo said he wishes he could have acted like a regular Joe and told the biker to “go to hell.”

“That matters to me more than making millions of dollars a year … because I’ve saved my money and I don’t need it anymore,” he said.

“I want to be able to tell you to go to hell, to shut your mouth … I don’t get that doing what I do for a living.

“Me being able to tell you to shut your mouth or I will do you the way you guys do each other.”

The real icing on the cake though is that his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), recently extended the state's stay-at-home order until May 15th. Apparently that applies to every New Yorker... unless you're related to the governor.

In fact, Gov. Cuomo has had a massive campaign urging people to stay home to stop the spread of the virus.

The governor even used his little brother as an example of who is getting the Wuhan coronavirus.

There's no way Chris had no idea he needed to stay home. Hell, he's been talking about the Wuhan coronavirus for more than a month. He's talked to his brother who is the governor of the nation's largest hotspot.

His decision to leave his house and put others at risk wasn't done in ignorance. It was done in selfishness and a lack of regard for anyone else.

But hey, he's the governor's brother so no one will hold the guy accountable. If the roles were reversed and this was a Republican governor and a conservative news host, the mainstream media would be flipping out.
