Laurence Tribe, a Harvard Law School professor and a frequent guest on MSNBC, tweeted on Friday that since being able to prevent the novel coronavirus from reaching the United States is no longer a viable option, the next way to stop the pandemic is to purposefully expose people to COVID-19 to establish herd immunity.
In the tweet, which has now been deleted, Tribe admits many would die from being purposefully exposed to the virus that originated out of Wuhan, China. Tribe deleted the tweet after getting heavily criticized for the idea.

Tribe further suggested the country could wait for a vaccine and more testing, but "that’ll require national leadership akin to that of the Manhattan Project. Trump won’t provide that leadership. He can’t. It’s not in his DNA."

With all of the lockdowns that have occurred nationwide, from businesses to schools being closed down, the United States has 662,045 positive cases of COVID-19 and 28,998 deaths as of Friday, according to John Hopkins University.
Tribe is a favorite guest on MNSBC's programs and was most recently featured during President Trump's impeachment and Senate trial to offer analysis.
