The Wisconsin Supreme Court blocked Gov. Tony Evers's attempt to postpone Tuesday's election until June 9, citing coronavirus concerns. Republican groups are commending the decision, especially considering how Gov. Evers had changed his mind about the election about half a dozen times.
“In words Governor Evers’ office used just days ago: 'Democracy is essential, it must go on,'" Republican State Leadership Committee President Austin Chambers reacted in a statement. "The Wisconsin Supreme Court reaffirmed that guiding principle in its decision today, righteously protecting millions of Wisconsin voters from the Democrats’ pitiful, partisan gamesmanship – particularly that of Governor Evers’ shameless reversal from just days ago when even he said he did not have the authority to move the election. We’re pleased with the court’s decision to move forward as planned and to ensure that every Wisconsin voter has an opportunity for his or her voice to be heard. This is a decision that even Joe Biden agrees with.
“Wisconsin has already seen record-high turnout in this election, with over one million absentee ballots requested – and nearly one million ballots returned. We look forward to that turnout growing even higher tomorrow with more ballots being returned and through in-person voting.”
Gov. Evers shot back at the state Supreme Court, arguing that Wisconsinites will have to choose between their health and their right to vote. Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) said the same.

The United States Supreme Court also had a role in Tuesday's election, ruling 5-4 that absentee ballots that are postmarked after the primary date cannot and will not be accepted. Again conservatives and constitutionalists cheered, fearing that Evers was trying to enforce an illegal attempt to extend voting past Election Day.
"This shouldn't be a partisan issue," former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said on Fox News Monday night. "The governor should have stepped in weeks ago."
But Evers was too busy flip flopping.
"But unfortunately. weeks ago, the governor himself was saying there should be an election, and less than two weeks ago he said he couldn’t do anything," Walker recalled. "Then just days ago he called for a special session and today he switched yet again saying they were going to postpone.""It's just a huge mess for everyone all across the state of Wisconsin," he added.
President Trump urged Wisconsinites to go out and vote today.
