Presidential hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) once-momentous campaign is struggling in more ways than one, most especially after a poor performance in the Iowa caucuses. Sen. Warren’s campaign saw a mass exodus of staffers in its Nevada operation, exclusively by women of color.
Politico originally reported that half a dozen campaign staffers called it quits, complaining of marginalization and a toxic work environment. These staffers allegedly took their grievances to human resources, but were not helped. This is a nightmare for the Warren campaign, given that the Nevada caucuses are on February 22.
Warren was forced to address this during an appearance on MSNBC with Chris Hayes. In typical Elizabeth Warren fashion, the struggling presidential candidate did not fully take responsibility for her campaign’s toxic work environment. Instead, Sen. Warren blamed American “racism and oppression” for this issue on her campaign:

This response from a Warren, a member of the United States Senate, is appalling. Blaming America’s “racist” legacy for her campaign’s disaster is not only a fabrication, but also completely irresponsible. Warren wants to be the leader of the free world, but cannot even take responsibility for her own campaign’s toxic work environment. This explanation was a visibly desperate attempt to court progressive voters as her campaign plummets; Sen. Warren has no real leg to stand on here, given that she lied about her heritage in order to gain voter sympathy.
