House Intelligence Committee Chairman and Lead Impeachment Manager Adam Schiff (D-CA) on Sunday appeared on CBS News' "Face the Nation" to try and convince the American people that the Democrats successfully argued their case for impeaching and removing President Donald Trump.
Right off the bat host Margaret Brennan asked Schiff about the lack of bipartisanship and what he believes the impeachment trial has accomplished.
"Well, what's remarkable is you now have Republican senators coming out and saying that yes, the House proved its case, the House proved the corrupt scheme that they charged in the articles of impeachment, the president did withhold hundreds of millions of dollars from an ally to coerce that ally into helping him cheat in the next election," Schiff explained. "That's pretty remarkable when you now have senators on both sides of the aisle admitting the House made its case and the only question is should the president be removed from office because he's found guilty of these offenses?"
"I think it's enormously important that the country understands exactly what this president did and we have proved it," he said.
According to the House Intelligence Committee Chairman, he believes the Senate needs "to remove [Trump] from office because he is threatening to still cheat in the next election by soliciting foreign interference."
Brennan reminded Schiff that multiple senators, including Marco Rubio (R-FL), Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Rob Portman (R-OH), have found Trump's actions inappropriate but not impeachable.
"The bottom line here seems to be the president will get away with what they're calling 'inappropriate.' What are Democrats going to do? What do Democrats do next?" the CBS host asked.
"Well, first of all, to call solicitation coercion blackmail of a foreign power, an ally at war by withholding military aid to get help in cheating in the next election merely 'inappropriate,' it doesn't begin to justice to the gravity of this president's misconduct, misconduct that I think undermined our national security, as well as that of our allies, and threatens the integrity of our elections," Schiff replied.
He started to say what Democrats would do if "senators still fail to act" but then went back to talking about how Trump deserves to be impeached. And apparently the House Dems are still going to press forward this week, continuing to make their argument that Trump should be ousted.
"But I'm not letting the senators off the hook. We're still going to go into the Senate this week and make the case why this president needs to be removed," Schiff said. "It will be up to the senators to make that final judgment and the senators will be held accountable for it."
We get it. You think the president should be removed from office. You don't have that sole power. The Senate does. Time to move on, Schiff. The people want Congress to go back to work.

Still, they blocked witnesses from testifying, and deprived the American people of a full accounting of Trump’s misconduct.
