It's been nearly a week since President Trump made the decision to take out Iranian terrorist Qassem Soleimani with a drone strike at the Baghdad airport. Since then, Democrats and the media have been bending over backward to condemn President Trump's decision, cover for the Iranian regime and distort who Soleimani actually was.
On Sunday morning, MSNBC's Chuck Todd took issue with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's assertion Soleimani was, in fact, a terrorist. When he asked for backup from former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, who served under President Barack Obama, Todd was shut down.
"The Secretary of State keeps saying 'terrorist, terrorist, terrorist' over again, that wasn't an accident," Todd said. "Explain for viewers why does Mike Pompeo keep saying terrorist? There is a legal reason he keeps saying the word terrorist, isn't there?"
"Uh, no, not necessarily," Johnson replied. "If you believe everything that our government is saying about General Soleimani, he was a lawful, military objective and the president under his constitutional authority as Commander-in-Chief had ample domestic legal authority to take him out without additional congressional authorization."
"Whether he was a terrorist or a general in a military force that was engaged in armed attacks against our people, he was a lawful military objective," he continued.

As a reminder, Soleimani is responsible for the murder and maiming of thousands of Americans. For decades he has implemented Iranian terror throughout the Middle East, instructed proxy forces to attack U.S. targets and has destabilized the region. He repeatedly ignored UN sanctions limiting his travel, which ultimately led to his demise.
